Gettysburg College Bullets Men's Head Coach – (Gettysburg/York, PA) The Gettysburg College Bullets, American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Division II, are seeking a men's Head Coach for the 2013-14 season. The team competes in the Greater Northeast Collegiate Hockey Conference (GNCHC) where they play against such teams as Rutgers University, Princeton University, Bucknell University, Millersville University, Kutztown University, Seton Hall University, University of Pennsylvania, among others. The season runs from the beginning of September through mid-February with no games/practices from Thanksgiving through mid-January due to College break. Regular season consists of approximately 20 games, plus post season. The team practices twice a week (Wednesday and Thursday evenings) at the York ice arena, York, PA. The Bullets are looking for coaches that have played and/or coached at a higher level of hockey. Job Responsibilities: · Conducting a 3-day tryout of 25+ paying players · On ice coaching and player development · Prepare practice and game plans · Attend all practices, games, and team events · Maintaining team's budget and collecting of paying dues from players · Follow all rules and regulations set forth by the ACHA and the GNCHC · Weekly reporting of game scores to the league · Conduct team meetings as necessary · Demonstrate fair play and sportsmanship on and off the ice that represents Gettysburg College in a positive manner · Represent the team at annual conference meetings · Schedule team's games and practices each year (2013-14 schedule has been completed) · Be a positive role model to players as a representative of Gettysburg College · Follow all rules and regulations set forth by Gettysburg College Campus Recreation Department · Communicate with the college for any administration issues including grade verifications · Non-intensive recruiting (i.e. responding to prospective high school student athletes and coaches via email and phone) · Implement discipline protocol on and off the ice Salary is a small stipend paid by the College through the Campus Recreation Department. The Head Coach may bring on any additional staff they wish but these would be more on a volunteer basis and would not receive a stipend. More detailed job responsibilities will be outlined for anyone interested. The current Head Coach, Eric Esser will help with the transition and administration work for the new coaching staff.
