Frontier Selects Inland Empire (FS-IE) is seeking full time 18U Varsity Head Coach to join our team in Riverside, California for the 2024/2025 hockey season. The successful candidate will become part of a world class hockey development program that believes in a commitment to excellence in all areas of the student athletes on and office training. Capable of recruiting top- tier players from all over North America and Globally! This person must be strong at assembling a team to elevate the program to new heights. This individual should also possess the expertise, connections, and commitment to facilitate player transitions to junior and college opportunities.

Frontier Selects Background

Frontier Selects Inland Empire is a division of Frontier Selects Athletic Group. Our primary focus is to promote the long-term development of each of our athletes in the classroom, on the ice, and in the community. Athletes attend Notre Dame High School in Riverside for academics, while they play, practice and train at the Riverside LA Kings IceTown. Frontier Selects Inland Empire is a prep school environment and currently has a 18U program with 16U, 14U and 18U Female teams in the future.

Summary of Responsibilities

Reporting to the President of Hockey Operations, the Head Coach is responsible for the overall experience of the student-athlete. This includes but is not limited to:

  • development and implementation of all on-ice activities
  • work with other FS-IE staff on & off-ice team actvities and training programs
  • develop and implement weekly practice schedules and develop yearly practice plans
  • analyse video and provide video review to all the players
  • oversee on-ice practice sessions, develop team tactics and strategies, prepare players forgames, manage the bench in game situations, and prepare written and verbal playerevalua6ons
  • transport players as required to and from school, games, etc.
  • oversee the assistant coach and training staff
  • assist, attend and participate in meetings and conferences
  • monitor student-athlete’s academic and personal progress through evaluation andprogress reports
  • An openness to understand the correlation between mentorship, implementation, andfinancial outcomes
  • A receptive adtude toward a profession that demands multitasking and the ability to wear multiple-hats.
  • Maintain communication on school academics with school liaison ensuring all athletes are eligible to play throughout the academic semesters
  • Recruit and scout future players for the program
  • Qualifications & Requirements:
  • Must have a strong work ethic and passion for the game
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma or equivalent work/professional development experience.
  • USA Hockey qualifications: USA hockey membership, Background check through USA hockey, Safe Sport Class, 14U, 16U, 18U USA Hockey Age Group Modules, USA Coaching Levels 4-5 preferred, and USA Certified Coach
  • Effective communication, proficient administrative abilities, strong organizational skills, and strong time management capabilities
  • Fiscal responsibility – ability to manage and maintain budgets
  • Experience working with youth from 12 – 19 years of age
  • Head Coach or relevant experience at the AAA, junior, College or Pro levels
  • Experience playing at higher levels is an asset
  • Strongly Positive aditude, highly professional, and equipped with robust listening,written, and verbal communication skills
  • Capability to foster positive connections with both your team and their families, along with your fellow colleagues.
  • Proactively organized and well-prepared, with the flexibility to adjust plans as necessary, ensuring the fulfillment of the needs of student-athletes and the attainment of organiza6onal goals
  • Accessible and encouraging, extending support not only to the student-athletes on your team but also to your colleagues.
  • Enthusiastic about recruiting and establishing connections with prospective student- athlete families.
  • Able to work in a coaching team environment with multiple teams within same organization while being coachable and accep6ng of guidance from Hockey Ops staff
  • Proficient computer skills and experience working with Microsoi Office Suite – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Experience with video editing and can pull together player footage – not only for review and coaching purposes but also to help student- athletes looking to move to the next level – In-stat experience is an asset
  • Regular full valid current driver’s License and a current driver’s abstract required at time of employment
